am a professional genealogist specializing
in New England research and computerized
genealogy. I have been involved
in online genealogy for thirteen
years. I am the Web Site Sysop for
the Ultimate Family Tree web site
where I offer insight to users of
Ultimate Family Tree about the program
and about the how-to of general
genealogy. I was the Data Manager
of the Genealogy RoundTable on Genie®
for seven years. I was the forum
manager for the Genealogy Forum
on MSN for a year and a half.
As a writer I have had articles
published in such well-known periodicals
as Everton's Genealogical Helper
and Heritage Quest Magazine. I am
currently a contributing editor
for Heritage Quest Magazine with
a question and answer column, Ancestry,
In.'s Genealogical Computing. I
author the Internet column in Ancestry
Magazine. I write a 5-day a week
e-mail newsletter, Family Tree Finders
for SodaMail devoted to all aspects
of genealogical research. I am the
author of the award-winning The
Complete Idiot's Guide to Online
Genealogy and contributing author
with Myra Vanderpool Gormley, CG
of Prima's Official Companion to
Family Tree Maker, Version 7. I
am one of the authors and compilers
of the thirty online interactive
lessons at RootsWeb's Guide to Tracing
Family Trees.
As a lecturer I have spoken at national
conferences, including NGS and GenTech,
and have upcoming speaking engagements
across the country.
I am the current President of the
Genealogical Speakers Guild. I am
a member of NGS, APG, NEHGS and
numerous other state and local societies.
I am the Information Technology
Chair for OGS. I am a Trustee, Public
Relations Chair and Florida Pioneer
Chair for FSGS.
I am a volunteer at my local Family
History Center, where I look forward
to helping newcomers to this fascinating
hobby.
